मेवाड़ के जगत सिंह जी की धार्मिक समझ और जानकारी - Travel With Chinmay - Udaipur Rajasthan India..

 नमस्कार सम्माननीयों ,

मेवाड़ के महाराणा न केवल वीरता के प्रतीक थे, बल्कि धर्म और भक्ति के प्रति उनकी गहराई भी अद्भुत थी। यह बात अधोलिखित कथा से प्रमाणित होती है । 

जब महाराणा जगत सिंह जी प्रथम , मथुरा और वृंदावन की यात्रा में दर्शनार्थ पधारते थे तो मंदिरों में और मूर्तियों पर बहुत-बहुत तड़क भड़क वाले श्रंगार किये जाते थे, जो कि अवास्तविक तो लगते ही थे किन्तु भावना के द्रष्टिकोण से, जो कि वैष्णव - पुष्टिमार्गिय व्यवस्था के अनुसार होता है ।।

 ( ग्रीष्म ऋतु में अधिक श्रंगार और आभूषण ठाकुर को चुभते हैं, कष्ट देते हैं एवं शीत ऋतु में फूल - पुष्पों के श्रंगार से ठाकुर जी को सर्दी हो जाती हैं । )

अतः जब महाराणा जगत सिंह जी प्रथम , गोकुल में द्वारिकाधीश मंदिर पधारें, तो वंहा गुसाईं जी गिरधारी लाल जी की सेवा , जिसमें सादगी पूर्ण पुष्प श्रंगार देख , मौसम अनुकूल शीतल शांत वातावरण देख कर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए  । दोनों ही के मध्य पारस्परिक धार्मिक वार्तालाप भी हुए । जिसमें जगत सिंह जी प्रथम की जिज्ञासाओं को अपने धीर - गंभीर उत्तर से गुसाईं जी गिरधारी लाल जी शांत किया ।

एक विचार , जो कि महाराणा जी के मन में अवस्थित था कि , पुष्टिमार्रिगीय वैष्णव अपने ही संप्रदाय की बातों को महत्व देते हैं , शास्त्रीय वचनों को स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं । उनके मध्य एक रोचक वार्तालाप - संवाद हुआ :

१: महाराणा जी : सबसे बड़ा देव कौन?

  गिरधारी लाल जी: जगदीश....

२: महाराणाजी : सबसे बड़ा तीर्थ?

गिरधारी लाल जी: तीर्थराज पुष्कर ...

३: सबसे बड़ा पर्वत राज कौनसा है?

गिरधारी लाल जी: पर्वतराज हिमालय ...

४: महाराणा जी : सबसे बड़ी नदी कौनसी है?

गिरधारी लाल जी: पुण्य सलिला गंगा नदी....

इस तरह के अनेपक्षित उत्तर सुनकर महाराणा जी को अचरज हुआ - और कहा कि यह उत्तर तो आपके पुष्टि मार्ग के अनुरूप नहीं है ?

इस पर गुसाईं जी गिरधारी लाल जी का प्रत्युत्तर था कि: 

१: श्रीनाथ जी तो देवाधिदेव पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम हैं -  सबसे बड़े देव तो जगदीश भगवान ही हैं ।

२: बृजमंडल श्री कृष्ण जी का लीला स्थल है - बड़ा तो तीर्थराज पुष्कर ही है ।

३: गोवर्धन पर्वत तो साक्षात् भगवत स्वरूप है , पर्वतों में तो हिमालय ही बड़ा है । 

४: यमुना जी भी चतुर्थ प्रिया यमुना महाराणी है , बड़ी तो गंग नदी ही है । 

इस प्रकार गुसाईं जी के सानिध्य से महाराणा जी में अतिरिक्त आस्तिकता जागृत हुई एंव उन्होंने पुष्टि मार्गिय दीक्षा लेकर कंठी बंधवाई , साथ ही आसोटिया नामक ग्राम भेंट किया । 

यही गुरु - शिष्य संबंध का भाव जगत सिंह जी प्रथम के कालखंड में पल्लवित हुआ और मेवाड़ धरा पर आगमन में सहायक सिद्ध हुआ । जिसका श्रेय महाराणा जगत सिंह जी प्रथम को जाता है । उसी काल खंड से मेवाड़ के महाराणाओं ने वैष्णव गुरु का सम्मान " कांकरोली महाराज जी " को दिया हुआ है। अनेक महाराणाओं ने कंठी बंध दीक्षा ग्रहण की और अनेकों गांव भेंट किए । कांकरोली के वैष्णव गुरु , गादी उत्सव , जन्मोत्सव व अन्य महत्वपूर्ण प्रसंगों पर आशिर्वाद देने हेतु पधारते रहे हैं ।

🙏The Maharana of Mewar — Icons of Valour, Faith and Devotion

The Maharana of Mewar were not merely symbols of valour, sacrifice and self-respect; their deep devotion to Dharma and spirituality was equally remarkable.

The following historical account beautifully reflects this dimension of Mewar’s royal tradition.

🙏Maharana Jagat Singh I and the Gokul Connection

Whenever Maharana Jagat Singh I visited Mathura and Vrindavan for darshan, he observed that the temples and deities were often adorned with elaborate and highly ornate decorations.

While such adornments appeared magnificent, he also observed them from the perspective of devotional sentiment and the principles followed in the Vaishnav–Pushtimarg tradition.

According to this tradition, the seva of Thakurji is also guided by the season and His comfort. During summer, excessive jewellery and heavy adornment are considered uncomfortable for Thakurji, while in winter, excessive floral decoration may make Him feel cold.

During one such pilgrimage, Maharana Jagat Singh I visited the Dwarkadhish Temple at Gokul.

There, he witnessed the seva performed by Goswami Shri Giridhar Lal Ji. The simple floral adornment, the peaceful atmosphere and the seasonally appropriate arrangements deeply pleased the Maharana.

A meaningful religious conversation followed between the two.

Goswami Giridhar Lal Ji answered Maharana Jagat Singh’s questions with remarkable patience, wisdom and depth.

🙏 A Fascinating Question–Answer Dialogue

The Maharana had a thought in his mind that followers of the Pushtimarg tradition perhaps gave importance primarily to their own sectarian beliefs and did not necessarily accept broader scriptural principles.

So, he began asking a series of questions.

Maharana Jagat Singh Ji:

Who is the greatest among the Gods?

Goswami Giridhar Lal Ji:

Jagadish Bhagwan.

Maharana Ji:

Which is the greatest pilgrimage?

Goswami Ji:

Pushkar — the Tirtha Raj, the King of Pilgrimages.

Maharana Ji:

Which is the greatest mountain?

Goswami Ji:

The Himalayas — Parvat Raj, the King of Mountains.

Maharana Ji:

Which is the greatest river?

Goswami Ji:

The sacred River Ganga.

The Maharana was surprised by these unexpected answers.

He remarked:

“These answers do not seem to correspond with the Pushtimarg tradition.”

Goswami Giridhar Lal Ji then gave profound answers:

1. “Shrinath Ji is indeed Devadhidev, the Supreme Being and the Complete Purushottam. Yet, among the Gods, Jagadish Bhagwan is regarded as supreme.”

2. “Braj is the sacred land of Lord Krishna’s divine pastimes. But among all pilgrimages, Pushkar is the Tirtha Raj.”

3. “Govardhan is itself considered the divine form of Bhagwan. But among mountains, the Himalayas are the greatest.”

4. “Yamuna Ji is our beloved Chaturth Priya Yamuna Maharani. Yet among rivers, the sacred Ganga holds the highest place.”

These answers deeply impressed Maharana Jagat Singh I.

What he witnessed was not merely a debate between two religious viewpoints, but a beautiful expression of the broad, inclusive and harmonious spirit of Sanatan Dharma.

🙏 A Guru–Disciple Relationship Takes Root

Through his association with Goswami Giridhar Lal Ji, Maharana Jagat Singh I developed an even deeper spiritual inclination.

He accepted Pushtimarg initiation, received the sacred kanthi, and is also said to have gifted the village of Asotiya.

This period marked an important chapter in the development of the spiritual and cultural relationship between the Mewar royal house and the Vaishnav Guru tradition.

From this period onward, the Maharana of Mewar continued to hold the Vaishnav spiritual tradition associated with Kankroli Maharaj Ji in great esteem.

Several Maharana are traditionally associated with receiving kanthi initiation and making grants of villages.

The Vaishnav spiritual heads of Kankroli continued to visit Mewar on important occasions such as Gadi Utsav, Janmotsav and other significant religious ceremonies, offering their blessings.

❤️ Mewar — Where Valour and Devotion Walked Together

This is not merely a story about a Maharana and a spiritual master.

It reflects the deeper soul of Mewar —

where the sword stood alongside the rosary,

valour alongside devotion,

and Raj Dharma alongside Sanatan Dharma.

For every Rajasthani, this tradition remains a matter of immense cultural and spiritual pride.

We are not merely spectators of this heritage.

We are its inheritors.
